Who Are We?
Montego Bay Animal Haven was founded in 2009 to raise awareness of the plight of stray and abandoned animals in Jamaica. At this time, over 1,000 animals have been rehomed, and many more have been spayed or neutered. As a registered non-profit organization, we rely completely on donations, of both time and money. Every little bit helps.
We are a small team of animal lovers with over 170 animals in our care (either at the Haven or in personal foster homes).

AIM
- To educate and encourage people within communities to take pride and love in all things associated with their home environment including the animals.
- To cut down on the number of stray animals across the country, through spaying and neutering programs.
- To provide advice and medical help required by the animals in the community.
- To educate people to have compassion for themselves and others so that we can return to a sense of community and family. One of the best ways to do this is to reconnect with the animals.
- To visit every school in Jamaica to share, educate and involve our next generation to have compassion and to care for the animals in their communities.
- To find good homes, through adoptions, for all animals under our care.
- To provide therapeutic interactions with animals for the children and staff at the Bustamante Children's Hospital. The Minister of Health was given approval by Cabinet for the Haven, Hope Zoo, JSPCA and JVMA to establish an Animal Assisted Recovery Care Programme at the Bustamante Children's Hospital. We started visiting on April 20, 2023 and continue to go the second Thursday of every month.
Why Do We Care
We need Cats and Dogs, they remind and show us what unconditional love is. They provide awesome personal and property protection; are great companions for the sick and elderly; they provide a safe, non-judgemental, loyal friendship and in hard times, this makes a world of difference. Let’s not forget, they keep the rat population down.
